Monday, March 4, 1996 Then a guy went up to the globe and tried to cover it up (and by this time, I could hardly keep it in it was WAY TOO much fun) and of course I turned it off. Then when I flashed it again a different person went up there and when they covered it up I just flashed it on the other half of the globe and went back & forth. Way too much fun. I was about to crack up! Now everybody in the class was interested (even the teacher) and I was just about to laugh outloud it was so fun. Then I started doing it along the bottom of the chalk board. I was moving it in (straight) quick jerks and one guy said "Look at how it moves". Then a girl got up to the board and tried to cover it up. The first time I just turned it off... she stood there a while and I turned it on again. This time I kept moving it to the left of her hand and she just kept chasing it across the board. (OH, it was SO fun, I just cant say it enough). Then a guy sitting a couple rows to the right cought me (finally) and I showed it to them. It went through a couple hands then to some girls that sat behind me (also in my Earth Science class) and then back to me after the ball rang. Ok, now that all the fun was over I went to Algebra. And guess what. Well, the teacher gave the papers we did on Friday back to us and a quiz and we went over then. I had missed 5, but as I went over them there turned out to be 3 that were really correct and the correcting sheet was wrong. so I got an 88 (still not good). We were in groups to correct our papers, and I flashed the laser once on a guys hand and got him startled. "There was this big red light on my hand." Then I was just the slightest bit careless and when I flashed it the second time another guy cought my with the laser under my desk. So I let him see it and of course he shined it around the room and over the the other groups and the teacher saw it. She took it away and said 'Hey, I could use this as a pointer.' then she gave it back to me "We'll put it away now." Anyways, Fourth hour wasn't like that and only one guy saw it (since I only did it on the back of another guy). We did a self-evaluation of how we dealt with stress (I scored real high..that I dealt with stress well). Then we watched a movie about it. Lunch came & went and I sat by my 5th hour door. I was shining it through the window onto the wall & ceiling (i dont know if anyone in there noticed). Then someone walked by and saw it and asked if it was a laser, I said yes and then they said to shine it through the window I did and then they said just dont shine it in anybody's face. Then I went into Fifth hour and we went over the Present writing period and some stuff abaout our author research paper. Sixth hour we uhm, I think we just did a sheet of questions all period (I only got about 7 of 12 done). And I turned in my folder to be graded since I hadn't done it Friday. Seventh hour the band director from, uhm, Deering directed us, since he was going to do some of the songs at the concert (which happens to be tomorrow night at 6:00 which will conflict with the church combined activity which I wasn't going to anyways since we dont have a car since3 it is still in the shop. Mr. Vandezzo, or however ya spell it, our band director, was over at Deering conducting his pieces over there. And I am barely half done with the day, although I probly wont go into too much detail with the rest. Then I came home (I only had to carry 2 books for homework) and started on my homework. For math, I never like taking my book home, because there are very little problems and I finish them in no time. I also had to do about 6 questions for World History about the Crete Minoans and stuff. To my surprise, I was able to take up a whole page front & back. Maybe I should divide my journal into paragraphs if it is long enough....naw. I think listening to music while I do homework or any kind of study help me, because when there is nothing (just quiet) then there is so much of my brain that is left un-occupied, since the homework can only work with a certain portion, and th rest that is available is more susceptable to 'drifting thoughts' so, the music when it is one fills that area and I can just concentrate on what I need to. At least thats what I think. Then after I finished my homework Eli, Ari, and I walked down to the library. I looked up Issac Asimov, since the English teacher said that I couldn't do my research paper on Orson Scott Card ("There isn't going to be enough written about him, he's too young"). I found a couple sections with some books of his and picked the shortest one so that I could read it in the allotted time. I have to stop reading the "Xenocide", so I dont want this to take too long. I (and Eli a little) had to help Ari with some of her math homework. Eli looked up some stuff like 'Kanosh' on the Businesses computer and it found like 8 things. He also put his home page up on one of the internet computers. The line before the library closed was pretty long, so we had to wait a while for me to check out my book. When we got home lenny was here watching the News. I went downstairs to get a Newspaper to look for something to do my Current Event (for Earth Science) on. I talked with Lenny a little about, like my author research paper and stuff. Then he helped Ari with her math homework some more. The homework she gets seems pretty tough for 6th grade i guess. She got some interest problems (as in %) and when Lenny worked out one (they didn't do compounding interest) he said something. I said that I knew about compound interests and he took that as a chellenge. He gave me and Eli the problem and we worked it out. We had to do it by way of iteration (it took me 14 tries although I could have done it in less (of course I could have)). Finally I got the answer. Then this interest thing led us into a talk about uhm, math and stuff which went to what I was studying (graphing absolute numbers) which went into how we start by graphing..say the X axxis then go to Y then we go to Z and the we go to T. That then went to this discussion about how things are the same, but different realative to where they are to other things. Then that went to Albert Einstein and his theory of realitivity and then the speed of light of how whatever that had to do with anything and that how could you travel faster than the speed of light, because you would get there before your image did. Then we went into Albert's E=MC2 and how he pu that up to the government with like this massive number and that they could just destroy whatever they wanted to (Atom bomb) and this little discussion about physics and chamistry with all the little atoms and how it works and stuff. And then about how all these scientists could agree that this might work and that they needed money, and 2 ways there are to get money (have it given to you or take it from someone) which turns to Tithing and Taxes and the tax collector guys and then we go back a little bit and about the speed of light and that we are trying to get our bodies of light and this of course ties it in to all the religious stuff (not that I dont waant to talk about it all) like how close we get to the line of Good/Evil and if light stops than that is Satan and how only the really good that have like seen Christ face-to-face and deny that they want any part can go to Outer Darkness. And then it all sorta fades out I guess and we finally (it was real fun) end this big ol' discussion and say a prayer. I love learning stuff. And of course, Ari slept through all of it just overwhelemed at her math homework. Then we got on the internet and checked mail, looked through encyclopedia Britannica. This is all like happening from about 6:00-10:00. it is now 10:25, I have been at this a half hour. And that is pretty much what happened today (I may have missed something). I didn't read my scriptures today (i'll catch up tomorrow). And I gotta get some sleep sometime, so I'm gonna go to bed now. Gee wiz, this is like an English teacher's nightmare or something. Well, I'm going to sleep now and we'll see what happens tomorrow. Oh, and one more thing. I just counted all the words I just typed (about 1904 before this sentence) and divided it by 30 minutes, and got about 63. That means 63 words per minute, of course most of the words were short, but still I tryped fast (I can do that when I am just typing out of my head). I'm kind of surprised that I typed so much, but that is cool anyways. So now I am really going to bed. G'night. Tuesday, March 5, 1996 Another great day. I think. This morning we got down to breakfast about 6:50. We all got buffets, cuz we had to kinda hurry. Then I left for school, what else. I'm writing this at 8:20 just FYI. And I am listening to Simon and Garfunkle while I type. Well, I got to school and went to Earth Science. And I am going to start using names, just cuz. Uhm, Tina i-dont-know-her-last-name asked me to help her with her homework. I did (of course) and she said herself that it was pretty easy. Then when class started we went right to our lab. In the lab we had to make a hydrometer (The lab was called Salt Water and Fresh Water). My lab partners were Tina, Amy (Boo-shod is how you say her last name), and uhm, darn I can't remember his name, i'll put it in when I remember. I typed up the lab for homework all nice and neat for when we finish it tomorrow. It looks tons better than writing it. Today, science extended into second period, but we didn't stay in Earth Science. We instead went to a Greek play in the auditorium called 'Medea'. I sat with Amy and Tina. As soon as I got the laser out "Hey, you brought it again, can I see it?". And I did (I just can't refuse). They shined it on the stage and on a couple people (before it started of course). Then a couple other people asked to see it too. A bit before the play started though, came some adults. She asked a guy adult that was sitting next to me to take it for the duration of the play. Darn. The play was pretty good, the actors anyways. Then we went back to class to get our stuff. Third hour Amy asked to borrow it for a while (she is in that class too). Everyone knew about it, but she still had some fun. Mrs. Gordius called up a bunch of people to put the homework problems on the board and went over them all. It was with absolute values in equations and graphing them and stuff. Amy gave the laser back when she went up to do a problem. Fourth hour I didn't do the laser. Mr. Jones just played a muscle relaxation tape, and then a visualization tape also. It got me pretty relaxed I guess. Then during lunch I ate with Jen and Melissa, her sister, from church. I eat with them Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, cuz their classes switch around (Science lab stuff). Before fifth hour I sat outside the door and shined the laser on the chalkboard (just the corner). When I went into class I showed Mr. Dowling my book (Janet and Isaac Asimov's Norby through Time and Space). he said it was ok, and I hope it is (that I can find at least some criticism written about the book. I shined the laser just real quick on the overhead projector screen and some people saw it and the teacher too. He asked who had the laser and pointed out a couple people (not me). He said he had seen it last period too. Then he got involvedd with other things (not finding out it was me). We did some questions about how to do Bibliographys. The guy that sits next to me must've seen it, and he asked if he could see it and that he would not get it taken away (in other words, he would hide it good and not let the teacher see). A couple other people that sat around me (and most people in the class) saw it and some asked where I got it. One guy asked if he could buy it, I said sure, $95 and it's yours right now. He didn't do it, cuz of course you can get lasers for about $40 elswhere. Sixth hour we went to the lecture room for class. I shined the laser just a little bit, and Nicole asked if she could see it. Mr. Fleigelman (i think thats how ya spell it) didn't like it too much and asked her to put it in her bag. She did just to satisfy him, and she should have kept it there until the end of class, but she passed it back to me and the teacher saw and took it for the duration of class. Darn again, but I get the message, its not that hard. We went over the homework (I answered one question). Then we picked papers and I got the first part of Socrates. We were doing a play about Socrates' trial. After the first page of Socrates David got the second part. There were about 5 people that didn't get parts. Seventh hour we did what we do every day. We practiced the second and 3rd movements of Folk Song Suite since Mr. Randazzo was there today and he was gonna conduct those at the concert. The concert was tonight at 7:00. Thats when it started anyways, he said we should be there no later than 6:30 but not as early as 6 like they said yesterday. He let us stop about 15 minutes before school got out. I went and got my math book so that I could do my homework and not have to carry it home since I always do my homework fast anyways and it seems a waste to have to carry the whole book home for 8 problems. It snowed ltos today, like 4-6 inches or something, so there was fresh snow on the ground, and more still coming. My hair caught some snow and the front of my coat was all white. I passed one of the waiters going across the street to the hotel. He said "You out of school allready?" I said, yeah, I got out early. I finished some math problems that I wrote down since I didn't finish them all at school. Then I read some of my book. I kept dozing off almost though, so I stopped and took a nap. I slept oh.. about an hour. Ari was tired too and took a nape (longer than mine). When I woke up that was when I typed up my lab paper for Earth Science. Then we all went down to eat dinner. I got clam chowder and Eli got some kind of fish soup (he didn't know it though) and Ari got a potatoe. Then we ran into Lenny getting out of the elevator, he was going to his meeting at 6:30. I didn't go to my concert. It was over by King Middle School and I didn't bring my trumpet home. Excuses excuses, sheesh. Then I went over Ari's interest problems for math (she got em all right except one). And then I opened a bunch of boxes looking for some school papers from home. I didn't find them. Eli said that the cleaning lady took my newspapers that I was going to do my current event off of. And besides doing that sometime I have to choose an Earth Science subject and do a research paper on it. We are bringing all our sources of information into class on Thursday. All that, and my American author report, hmm, seems like a little stress, cuz I haven't ddone much yet. The current event is due friday. I installed a Carmen Sandiego Junior Detective CD game on the IBM and played it. I got up to Sr. Investigator. That was before we went to dinner. Now Ari is playing it. Eli got a cop car out in front of the hotel with his laser. Lenny said someone told him that he should talk to the front desk sometime about his kids. I added some stuff to my book capsule review that I did a while ago. And Lenny punched holes in some of my papers and then I found a good hole puncher. The hole puncher we had before didn't punch all the way, because it was used improperly. Wednesday, March 6, 1996 Well, before I say anything I better say this. Just barely, Lenny threw the Recent Items folder into SuperTrash. Now, if you can't guess what that did, let me tell you. There are aliases in there, and SuperTrash does not do aliases well. So, an alias of my journal was in there, and SuperTrash opened the original and started trashing it. As soon as Lenny saw what it was doing he turned off the computer. First we tried Norton, then 1st Aid, then Norton again, only this time I did a text search. The first text search I did was 'Hanscom's Air Force Base' which was from the very first day of my journal. It didn't find anything, so I did the date from yesterday just in case 'Tuesday, March 5, 1996' and it found one document which started well, you can see when it started, cuz thats when this journal starts (1/4 the way through the day before yesterday). All in all, I lost about 7 whole pages. 4 pages were just yesterday and the day before, 11 total. Anyways, lets get back what happened today. By the way, it is now 10:15 that I am starting this. This morning, we got up pretty late (about 6:40). Lenny was up first, which woke me up, then when Lenny was done, Eli got the bathroom and then me and then Ari. We got down to breakfast about 7:05 and just had buffets (Lenny didn't eat with us today). We ate, and I left for school at about 7:33. First hour (Earth Science/Mrs. Bruceras) [I had all the classes and teachers typed before it got erased] we did some more on our lab. The teacher, when she saw my typed up lab paper, said "You guys are real lucky to have him in your lab group" or something to that effect. Tina asked my if I would print her one with her name at the top (and of course I did). We did not get very far, only about 3 more steps, there were like 6 people in the group. Ezatula (thats how it sounds anyways) was one of the guys in our group, yesterday I said I would type his name when I remembered. I asked Mrs. Bruceras about the research paper and she suggested some things and I chose astronomy, but when I went to the public library later I figured (since I saw some books on it) I would just do 'Light' and got 2 books on that and 1 on color. Study Hall (second period) I was going to go to the library, but 3 people were allready signed up to go and that is the max that can go. So instead I worked on my Current Event paper. I did it from an article out of the Economist about a new planet scientists think they have found 45LY away. I got it finished and read a little bit of my book. Third hour (Algebra I/Mrs. Gordius) first some people volunteered to do the homework problems on the board, then we took a quiz. And, of course, I was the first one finished followed by Amy, and then they just started piling in after that. I'm pretty sure I got 'em all right, I'll tell ya tomorrow. Our only homework was to study for the chapter 5 test tomorrow. Fourth hour (Health/Mr. Jones) Mr. Jones just talkedd to us about the vocabulary and said to study for the quiz tomorrow. Then we had the rest of the period to ourselves. Justin asked to borrow my laser (you should know my now that I never refuse). At lunch time, I was playing a with the laser (I got a couple people) when I saw a little flash of red at the other end of the cafeteria. Of course, I knew exactly what it was and tried to get the guy's attention with my laser. I'm not sure if they saw me, but he left, and then came back, and (probly on accident) flashed it in my eyes on his way to the ceiling. I finished eating, and when I was walking up the stairs, he was coming down and flashed it in my eyes again (on purpose). I immediately turned around and tried to get the wall as he was going down, but I dont think he saw it. Then I talked to my counselor about some activities that are available for me to do in order to get in the National Honor Society next year. I barely got to 5th hour (English) on time. Mr. Dowling talked a little, then we went up to the library. Meanwhile the guy next to me was barrowing the laser (the whole period). When I finally started to find stuff about Isaac Asimov, The guy with the laser (might have been a different guy) flashed it in my eyes again. He asked if I had one, I said yes, he asked how much it cost, I say this one cost about 85 dollas and he said hah, I got this one for $45 you got ripped off, and this one can go 300yards, I said yea I know. When I finally found what I was looking for (with the help of Mr. Dowling) I didn't get it copied, because the tone sounded. I had to pack up my stuff and go down i dont know how many flights of stairs, but down from the 3rd floor to the G level (1 under level 1). I got there with a little time to spare (I do walk fast). Sixth hour (World History/Mr. Fliegelman/Mr. Johnson) first we had some time to work on the Greek/Macedonian class work. Then we had a discussion about 'positive' things we could do to help the course be better. The list of things the teacher could do was quite a bit longer than what the students could do, because, as some people said, "We are perfect allready." Then he assigned homework and let us pick a Greek god/hero to be and report on Friday (Maybe he moved it to Monday because of one of the things on the list, but I dont know). Before 7th hour actually started, we had to carry in some stands from the car shop since they had gone to the supposed to be concert that was canceled last night. We got a new pice of music called Semper Fidelis I think. Its a pretty cool march. After class, Mr. Randazzo said that he would call Eastern Music Supplies and ask about a mouth piece. I ran upsairs real quick (ok, not so quick) and copied some pages for English. When I got back He gave me the info and asked if I was gonna get it today. I said no, probly tomorrow since we dont have a car still. He said that he would go up there after school, buy it and give me the reciept and I could pay him back later. Well, thats it for school, now for after school. Gee, I hope I can get to be before 11 somedays. 10:47 right now. I was hot on the way home, probably because I had gone up and down the stairs so much. It was about 20°. When I got home I did some homework and then when Ari got home I asked her if she wanted to go to the public library with Eli and I. She didn't, so we went without her. I got the books on light, and Eli got Jonathan Livingston Seagul. We were there for about an hour. Gosh I'm tired. Then when Lenny got home (I found out that he got the Jag back) we went to the store. We got some food, and me a 2 pocket binder for English, because if we dont have one then we dont get the homework point. Lenny couldn't get any money out of the teller machine, so we are broke jsut about. When we got home, I finished my homework, Lenny did taxes, and while Ari was watching TV, and me, He dod the SuperTrash thing and then all that happened and I typed my journal and now that goes to right now and we just said a prayer and I'm tired and I'm gonna go to bed it is 10:55 and I didn't read my scriptures today I'm getting pretty far behind schedule and this is a real long run-on sentence so I am going to be before this journal entrie gets too long and I am going to make a copy just in case because ya never know.... Thursday, March 7, 1996 I get the feeling that every day, at least school days, is gonna have a long journal entry. I'm typing this a little earlier today, 8:10. Well, today we got up on time at about 6:00, though I was woke up by my alarm at 5:45. We went down to eat breakfast, we all got buffets (Lenny didn't go). When we got back to the room, I had to get the last little bit of L.A. Looks gunk out of the bottle for my hair, then I threw it away. Eli is interupting me, we are gonna go eat dinner. There, I'm back (that took about 20 minutes), we got a Club Sandwhich with mayonaise on the side, sincee Eli didn't want any. Any ways, when I got to school, a guy stopped me and asked me "Are you from Utah?" I said "Yeah, I was born there," he said "Do you drive a Jag?" I said "Yeah, my dad does," he said "Hi, how are ya?" I said "Good." then that was the end. Later I was thinking that I sould've asked him how he knew, I suppose he must've seen u at the mall or something. After that happened, while I was at my locker switching books and putting my coat away, the guy that sits in front of me in English class was there and borrowed my laser for a while. Then I went to 1st period, I gave the lab paper I did for Tina to her. Then, for the first period, we finished the lab. Second period (extended lab today), we were going to write down some notes and I think do something about our research papers. I didn't get to find out, because all the sophmores had to go to the Auditorium for a "Healthy Choices" presentation. I was the only one in the class that had to go, cuz everyone else is Freshmens. At the presentation, I was asked if I was gonna use the laser, I said "Of course not." But, not long after I sat down there flashed a laser up on the stage. I saw the guy when I came into the auditorium, but I didn't see where he sat. Then they anounced for the person shining the red light to please stop. I guess I just have more experience with lasers than that guy does, but I wont say anything. The presentation was pretty cool, it was from 9 projectors, 3 to each of the 3 screens set up[ on the stage. I think it had some positive parts, but also some negative, maybe more negative. That ran over into 3rd period about 10 minutes, and when it was done everyone went to the front and signed a banner for someone, I cant remember her name, she is in a hospital in Texas I think. Lenny just asked me if I ever took a typing class and said I'm good, cuz I do type fast, but I dont use the right fingers. I can do pretty good without looking anyways, but I still don't use the right fingers. After I signed that (I was one of the first ones up there since I wanted to get out of there and not be in a jam) I ran into uhm, I think it was the assistant principle, anyways it was the guy that we signed up for school with, and I had a nice conversation with him (I said I liked the snow). I had to go back to my Earth Science class to get my stuff, since Mrs. Bruceras said I could leave it there. When I got to Algebra, Mrs. Gordius was reviewing the problems on the quiz we took yesterday. She was on the last one. Then we took the chapter five test and of course you know what happened there. I was the first one finished, the test was 2 pages, I turned in the first page, and got the second. A while after that Amy turned in her first and got the second, and I finished the second and turned it in about 10 minutes before she, or anybody else, turned in their second paper, but maybe I should stop bragging, cuz I am a Sophmore and maybe everyone in there is Freshman and besides, its only Algebra 1. After that, in Health, we took another quiz, and I got and 8.8 on it which is a B, I think I better start getting better grades on those quizes, or I wont get an A in the class. Then we talked a little bit about the next chapter. Mr. Jones let us out about 5 minutes early, so I went back up to the Earth Science room to get my book that I had left there and ask if it was ok for me to do my research paper on light "as in L-I-G-H-T?" she said. And it was. When I was in the lunch line, I saw a girl with a laser (it was a round Radio-Shack type) just shining it around in clear view. Of course, I had to do something about that, so I shined my laser over where she could see it and then put it away so she didn't know. I think todays lunch is one of the better ones that I've had at this school, it had: Macaroni and Meat, salad, fruit, bread, a cookie, and of course milk. When I got to my English class and was sitting down in front since class didn't start for about another 10 minutes, The guy that sits next to me in English (I gotta learn these peoples names sometime) came by and borrowed the laser. They dont' listen to me, and just shine it in peoples faces, once he was shining it in another guys eye trying to go for a 'record time', he got about 20 seconds. I don't see why people would do that. In English, we started our working bibliography, Mr. Dowling checked our homework, and then we read our books and started a paper about our book (Characters, setting, etc..). The setting in my book keeps changing (time travel) so, I just have to list them all. Then, sixth hour we went over our homework by random drawing of the cards, the cards have everybody's names on them (I got one of the questions and of course got it right). Mr. Fleigelman anounced a new rule, that if he had to say anyones name, they had to stay 5 minutes after school, and 10 for the second time, 15 for the 3rd, and if he had to do it 4 or 5 times (I cant remember which) they got a school detention. Everyone pretty much went ballistic over this (quietly though), and about 4 people got 5 minutes after school. Then we got into groups. Mr. Fliegelman counted off by 3s, and after we all got into our groups, he realized he had made a mistake and he was supposed to have counted off by 6s so he split up the groups and this caused some problem. We had to summarize a little subject in chapter 5 section 2 and then present it to the class. Oh darn, I just remembered that there were some questions I had to do and I didn't. Anyways, at Band Mr. Randazzo gave me the new mouthpiece (and the reciept). It is lots easier for me to play now, and it sounds better too. We played Semper Fidelis, Bach: Air, and something-or-other for Wind Band. It has been snowing all day, I think it still is (9:20), so Mr. Randazzo told me that if school is cancelled it will be on channel 6 at 6 am tomorrow, or on MGX radio. I brought my trumpet home today just in case it is cancelled, and the books I need too. When I got home I practiced a little bit, played Descent, typed up a paper or to, then I went into the fire escape and read my scriptures. Now I am caught all up, because I read 35 minutes today. Then I got on the Internet and looked up some things. Lenny got home. He had money for the mouth piece, and some hair stuff for me, but it was not the stuff I had before (L.A. Looks), it was called Dep. Then Eli and I went to dinner, and I typed in my journal, and now it is earlier than it was last night anyways, so I get a little more sleep. Friday, March 8, 1996 Well, 6:00 and all's swell. I got up 12 hours ago this morning. Since the mac was allready on, I just opened the TV and watched channel 6 to see if there was school. The first time it went through, it went PEAK, PINE, ST. JAMES and I didn't see PHS. So I figured we had school and I got ready, but then I watched again and it said PORTLAND, and some other towns with NO SCHOOL over it, so I figured there was no school (and so did Lenny, Eli, and Ari). But, I still got ready and we went down to eat breakfast. I had French Toast. I got change for a $10 bill so I could pay for the mouthpiece on Monday. When we got back to the room, I changed the dates on some of my school papers (to the 11th) and then typed up my Health vocabulary. Eli got Dark Castle '95 Demo off the Internet, it is all color and everything, except only a few rooms. He also got all the cheat codes for Descent. After that, I think I read my scriptures in the fire escape (just like yesterday). Then I read some of Norby and watched the first part of Robin of Loxly since I had seen the rest before. Then (I'm trying to remember everything, it is harder than to remember what happens in school) Eli and I went downstairs to get the mail for Lenny. Then we all got ready to go to the library. When we got to the library, Vanessa (pretty sure thats how her name is spelled) was standing out front with some frinds. She's from school and has 3 of the same periods as me. Now that I think about it, it was after school would have been out, so I am not sure if we did have school or not (I hope not since I didn't go). I looked up some Greek Mythology to find some stuff on Ares. That is the Greek god that I'm supposed to find some information on for World History, and I have to present it on Monday. I found 3 books with a little information, and copied some of it. But I think that most of the information that I need is on the Internet, which is good. We were at the library for about an hour. On the way home, I guess I was walking too fast and Eli and Ari were falling behind and ditched me. I was getting just a itsy bitsy tad worried, but I was sure they were just trying to take another route to get home before me. I saw them, and that confirmed my thoughts. Eli was waiting just around a corner, and Ari was a ways off still. Back at the room, I got on the Internet so I could play Sunic a Descent ladder match. I won 15-13, so now I'm gonna be about #67 instead of #134. Then Lenny came home and I typed in my journal. Then we watched some show where this kid (Frank) worked with pets in a shelter and saved them from 'going to California' and started (or so it seemed) his own pet shelter. Then we watched a James Bond show A View To A Kill. I have 3 things due on Monday that I haven't done yet. 2 Critical thinking questions for World History, a rough draft on my 'Light' research paper for Earth Science, and The thing on Ares. I'll try to do those tomorrow if I can get my mind on it. Saturday, March 9, 1996 Oh my. Another disaster. I gotta learn to save very often. I had the whole day typed, but when I clicked back up to insert something else, when I was typing it somehow clicked and selected everything I had typed (about a page and 6 lines) and since I kept typing it wrote over it all. I tried to undo, but it was too late Word 5.0 doesn't undo enough. So, I just turned off the power in hopes of having a Word Temp file to go back on. There was a temp file, but it was empty. So it is now 7:10, I started this whole thing at 6:00. Now I'll try to remember everything again, and SAVE often. Like right now. This morning I got up at about 7:00. Lenny called Mom. Ari left for breakfast first, then Eli and I. Eli had a buffet, Ari had a traditional, I had 2 pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and a large orange juice. Lenny left his keys in the room, except I thought they were Ari's so I brought them downstairs with me. They weren't, so Ari went upstairs to I suppose give them to Lenny, but he wasn't there, so she brought them back down. We told her to go leave them up there, but didn't think about how Lenny would get into the room to get his keys if he didn't have a key. And I am saving again right now. Lenny said he was half way to work before he noticed. He came back, found us in the restaraunt and Ari went with him to open the door. When we got back from eating, I started practicing the trumpet. I'd been playing for a while when the front desk called and said someone complained so I had to stop. Oh well. Eli threw something at a painting on the wall and broke the glass. He took out the little pieces, and threw them in the garbage so it wouldn't be as easy to notice. Then I typed up my 2 critical thinking questions for school and wrote down some stuff about Ares from the papers I copied at the library. I couldn't get on the Internet, because Ari was still arranging to have her friend (Julia) come over. When I could finally get on, I looked up the Greek mythology page I had found a while ago and added some stuff to my list of things about Ares. Then I decided that I would look it up in the Online Encyclopedia Brittanica that Dale subscribed to and gave us his account stuff so we could use it. I looked up Ares and found what amounted to a page's worth of information about him and about Mars (his Roman counterpart). I printed out Ares on one side of a paper and Mars on the other side. Then I figured that I might as well try to get some information on Isaac Assimov for English, I found some and printed it out for use at a later date if possible. Lenny got back, and I switched shoelaces with Eli's Sunday shoes (mine were round and the covers were falling apart). Then I got off and Ari's friend came over (around 2:15). The first thing they did was play Carmen Sandiago. Later they colored and then went down to go swimming, but came back right away because it was too crowded. Johnny called and I talked to him for a while (about the day I was born, and school, and trumpet, and driving). Now, I have to type all about my fabulous achievement of the day (it is long, because I allready typed it once before). I turned on the radio and figured I'd try to get both the speakers to work, since only one of them did. I switched the wires around in the backs of the speakers, and the one wire worked still in the other speaker, so I knew it was the wire's problem not the speaker's. So, I messed with where the wires connected to the amp, but that got nowhere. So, I don't know why it worked, but instead of messing with the wires from the amp to the speakers I decieded since I wasn't getting one of the channels I would switch the wires going to the amp and that worked, both speakers were going now. I thought that was cool, but when I switched it to the tape player, that wasn't doing too good. So I messed with the wires in the back (in the right position they kind of worked... sometimes) but I couldn't get it to work for good. I switched the ends around and the problem just proceeded at the other end, so I knew it was the wire. So I looked for another wire I could use and I found 2. Instead of one wire with the ends split apart (for stereo) it was just 2 wires. When I plugged them in, it worked fine. So now I figured this was great, and the TV sound was working great too. Then I went back to the radio and remembered that yesterday I had been messing around on a station I knew there was, but we weren't hearing and when I stuck my hand in the right place by the antennae I could hear it fine. (Save again and a couple times in between.) So, I found the place again and that I only needed to place my finger over the hole that is provided for an extra antennae, and with it on another one next to it it was even better. So, I figured that I would look for something that could stay there instead of my hand. I found a little mono-stereo do-hickey cable thing and sort of rested it on the antennae and stuck the prongs or rather laid them as good as I could on the extra antennae holes. That worked good, but not perfect, so I plugged one of the wires from the wire that was plugged into the tape into the mono end of this do-hickey which in effect made a longer antennae, and that made it really good. It is now 7:45, save again. Now, this was very cool, I had fixed the speakers so they both got sound, fixed the tape player so both channels got out without any hesitation, and improved the reception of the radio so now we can get just about all the channels and the others that we got before even had a better signal. Then I figured I better go start on my Light research paper (this was at 5:00). When I got to the computer though, I started this whole journal routine. Lenny got home and loaded his .PLR file for Descent from work, because he finally passed level 7 and now he can start on level 10. Then he called Johnny and talked to him for an hour or 2. Now they are watching TV. Ok, this has now taken me 2 hours andd 50 minutes total and I am finally finished. Now I have to start on my 'Light' rough draft of my research paper for Earth Science. Gee, and it's almost 8:00. Hmm, I think this might be causing stress. Save again. Ok, I guess I'll start on 'Light' now. I guess. Sunday, March 10, 1996 Before I start, a couple things that I lost that I had written before. My trip to Hanscom's Air Force Base, 1 hundredth of a second on my stopwatch, Eli and I said the prayers in sacrament meeting last Sunday (or maybe it was the Sunday before), i'll add more right here as I remember. This morning I was woke up at about 6 (by the clock radio). I didn't get up though and just drifted in and out of dreams for 4 hours, that was nice. Then I got up and ate some cereal. Lenny made some popcorn. I got a shower and got dressed around 11:30. We left at about 12:30. Today was Stake Conference, so it started at 1:00 instead of at 10:00. This was the first time I have ridden in the Jag since it got out of the shop this last time. Originally it had Nitrogen packs and loaad levelers for shocks. The last time I rode in it it was only the 'broken' nitrogen packs and it was pretty smoothe. Now, it is only the load levelers. The back is higher up than the front of the car, and it is quite bumpy, since the load levelers figure that the nitrogen packs are still there (they are broken). Anyways, we got to church and didn't get a padded seat even though we were there about 20 minutes early. I saw to mother/daughter pairs that were wearing the same outfit. The first hymn we sung (Called to Serve) had a 3rd verse added to it with the words something like 'called to serve the residents of New England.' There was a talk about Abraham Lincoln. I wasn't really listening, I was too busy thinking about other stuff the whole time. Then someone asked everybody to stand up, stretch, lean right, then left, then back straight. He then said that he could say he had swayed an audience before. The next hymn was Joseph Smith's First Prayer (thats what its called right?). At the end, the choir sang a song. When we got to the ho0tel, we went to see the snow man that Ari and her friend had made yesterday. Back in our room we ate some salad, jolly ranchers, popcicles, and finished the popcorn. We watch another James Bond show In Our Majesty's Secret Service. Now it is 7:15. School days are always longer. I don't ever do homework on Sundays, so I don't have to think about it. I hope I get my 'Light' thing finished soon enough. Then we watched Diamonds Are Forever another James Bond. Monday, March 11, 1996 Oh my, it is 10:30 I'm doing this pretty late. This morning was like any other. Ari and I got buffets, Eli got a traditional. I gotta type/remeber fast so this doesn't take to long. I got all my stuff ready for school and Eli turned the HAM radio on (plugged in) so I could talk to him sometime. When I got to school, I went to the band room to put the trumpet back, and pay for the mouthpiece ($17). Then I went to (my locker first) First period. Today we finished writing down notes that we started thursday. Ms. Bruceras changed the due dates for our research paper, so now the rough draft is due next Monday (the 18th). Then she went the lab we are going to do tomorrow, since she'll be gone and we will have a substitute. Second hour was study hall and we had that in the cafeteria. I just read my book (Norby) the whole time. Third hour (I'm trying to go fast through the day) we finished up the test from Thursday (I was allready finished). Then we started on polynomials. The homework was kind of confusing, I'll probly understand it once the teacher goes over it though. Fourth hour we had a sub. We watched a movie about symptoms of teen suicide and did a quick worksheet. After I ate lunch and was by my fifth hour class, Pat (the guy who sits next to me in English) borrowed the lasserr for a bit. I don't think he'll ever learn not to shine it in peoples eyes. Fifth hour we filled out some more of the book review form. I had to go back and look through it a bit since I didn't do it while I was reading. Sixth hour we finished going over the group activity work we did on Thursday and Mr. Fleigelman assigned the same homework (which I had allready done). He postponed the trial of the gods/heroes until tomorrow. Gee I'm tired. Seventh hour since I had left the radio in the trumpet case and I didn't want to talk I just held down the PTT button and pushed numbers (which Eli heard and pushed some back). Then we played Semper Fidelis, and some parts of Flourish for Wind Band. Then I walked home. I talked some on the radio on the way back, but when I got to the room it was turned off since the cleaning laddy was there. I played the computer briefly then did my math homework. When Lenny got home we went to the mall in that bumpy Jag car. Ari got a pair of shoes and I got a pen and a mechanical pencil, some enzyme stuff, and we got Clue the board game. When we got home Ari did her journal, we watched TV. Then we got on the internet on the IBM to chat, but noone was there. Lenny left to go shopping for food and I did my journal. Now I am going to go to sleep. it is 10:45. Oh, and I read my scriptures just before I started this journal entry. Tuesday, March 12, 1996 Doing this at 9:35. This morning I got up at 6. All of us went down for breakfast today. Ari & I got buffets and Lenny & Eli got traditionals. I had to take one of Isaac Asimov's autobiographies to school. I just left it in my locker 'till 5th preiod. First hour we did a seafloor analysis lab. We had to mark down some points on a graph then trace them onto 3 other sheets of paper which had different information about the points. I finished all 3 pages before the others in the group I was in finished their first. Then I did some of the questions, which they copied when they caught up. Then we finished the last of it at the same time. That lasted 1st and 2nd periods. In Algebra we got our quizes back. I got every single one right except for one that Mrs. Gordius marked right but it was wrong. She corrected everybodys since she didn't switch the inequality sign when she divided by a negative. My uncorrected score was 104. The highest possible was 108, but I only got half the bonus right. Then we talked about Feberchini (sp?) numbers, Pascal's triangle, mono,bi, and poly nomials. We also went over the homework we had last night. Fourth hour there were 2 people that came in to answer questions about teen suicide. Lunch was normal. Fifth hour I didn't do much, since I just had that huge autobiography of Isaac Asimov's and I couldn't find anything to write on notecards. Also, a guy in that English class said that he ordered a laser for about $40, so when he gets it I am going to compare them. Sixth hour we did the council of the gods/heroes. It was pretty simple. Seventh hour we got a new piece of music. I wasn't able to hit high notes, so I didn't do that good. I am the only 2nd trumpet part, but its mostly the same in parts as 1st and 3rd. When I got home I made a list of just about everything I had to do... sometime or another. Then I read my scriptures, did my World History homework, and listened to the radio. My math homework I am going to do tomorrow during Study Hall since I didn't want to bring my book home, cuz I gotta take these TWO big Asimov autobiographies tomorrow since we were supposed to have 3 biographical resources to get graded on. I went to the library and really looked in the short time I had, but couldn't find anything. Then Lenny took Eli and I to scouts. We tried the HAM radios while he was driving away, but it cut out after only about a mile. Then we did a flag ceremony. Then we went outside and looked for some constellations. Only some people actually did it (I was one of them), the others had the lasers and were shining them all around. Later, a cop came into the building since someone must've called them since they thought it was a gun sight. No one got in trouble though. Then we tried to do 'Traffic Jam' which is where five people are on one side and five on the other in a line with a blank space in the middle and you have to get everyone across to the opposite side with the certain rules. We couldn't get it, but when Lenny got there he figured it out pretty quick. It is actually pretty easy once you think about it. I made visual aids (paper torn into pieces) so that we could figure it out without having to move people around and stuff. We also found out a little about seminary. When we got home Ari was doing homework. We watched Heckle and Jeckle. Then I did my journal and now I'm going to bed cuz I am tired why else. Wednesday, March 13, 1996 Eli's birthday. Gosh, very much I noticed today that there are not enough hours in the day. The days go by so darn fast. Really fast. Too fast. This morning Ari was the first to get up. When she was done I got ready at about 6:25. Then we went down to breakfast like every day. We all got buffets. I took both of Isaac Asimov's autobiographies to school, and left them in my locked till English time. I took my Algebra book as well as my Earth Science book to First period. We did a Gulf of Maine worksheet and started reading an article. Homework was to finish it and write a short reaction. Second hour which was Study Hall today I did my Algebra homework and also Earth Science homework that the sub gave us yesterday that is due tomorrow (Thursday). Third hour we went over the homework which I pretty much understood. Then we did about 34 problems on the board. We had about 20 more for homework. Fourth hour we copied down an outline about mental illness which we have to expand so that we understand each category. After I ate my lunch, I did some of my book summary. Fifth hour I took both the Asimov books, but found out that they were due tomorrow not today. The whole period we did registering clases for next year. I hardly did anything since I couldn't figure it out. The guy doing it said that I should just go to my counselor sometime and do it. Sixth hour Mr. Fliegelman handed out some stuff and everybody turned in stuff they owed. He also gave out warning notices. Then we did some more of the council of the gods. A bunch of people didn't have there stuff today, so we'll finish it tomorrow. Seventh hour, band, we did some stuff for the trip to Pennsylvania I think. We played Semper Fidelis, trying to do the first part from memory, and Bach:Air. Right after Mr. Randazzo let us out I went to Mr. Fliegelman to do some stuff. I turned in a bunch of papers that I did but didn't turn in, and did an assignment that I hadn't done. Also he told me that I had to redo my creative project because it wasn't what it was supposeed to be... it shouldn't be to hard. Then, that took about an hour, I went to my locker and got the stuff I needed and my coat and one of the Asimov books so that I could do some note cards at home. Then I went to my counselor to do my schedule for next year. I got Col. prep stuff, I'm gonna try to get Honors Geometry. Also got Band, P.E. so that I can get that out of the way, and Choral which switches off with the biology lab/study hall time. So that I can have 3 activities for the National Honor Society. Now I just gotta get the service part. I got home at about 3:30. I listened to the radio while I did my math homework (I think I'm getting it), then I took my stuff into the fire escape (less distraction) and read the assignment for Earth Science and wrote the response. Then I did a bunch on my book summary, thats good. Lenny came home while I was out there, but then left to go to Ari's parent/teacher conferences. When I got back inside, I read scriptures for half an hour to catch up on the time I missed. 'I like typing lots better than writing, cuz it is lots fasater and easier to correct and I can more easily write just about everything that I want to say, thats why these journal entries are so long.' Lenny cam home during the reading time. I then did one note card from the Asimov book about 'submitting a story.' We got on the internet and checked the mail. Lenny and Eli went down to eat (a steak I think). I checked the Descent Ladder, my Ali.html screen was not changed to show games played/won/lost, but I was moved up to #67. I wrote mail to 'REX' #34 for another challenge. Then when Lenny got back we started a game of Clue. A ways through it, David Shelley called. He said that Virtual Classroom's internet server worked, I gotta try that tomorrow, and that he got to level 100 and something in Spectre and killed himself, he got 8megs of RAM in his computer, got to level 6 of Descent, tried to put in an FPU and screwed it all up, got past level 10 of Prince of Persia II, Ryan is gone for their spring vacation, they are almost done with the 3rd quater and we are only almost half way through, and he said he wrote me a letter and asked me for our address. And I told him to get on the internet and he told me to get on Virtual Classroom. Then our game of Clue endded because of a mistake I-won't-say-who made saying I don't have any when everyone else did to, and there had been a lot of assumptions made on that statement and that was a couple turns ago. Then we said a prayer, I wrote in my journal and now I'm gonna go to bed. It is now 10:50pm PST. Thursday, March 14, 1996 Today is PI day! Third month, fourteenth day. 3.14 (1:59.26 o'clock would be more exact). I am doing this at 9:15pm, while we are listening to a children's songbook tape. This morning I was woke up at about 4:20 by Lenny who got a shower then talked on the phone. I got up at about 6:00 and got ready just like any other day. I had a traditional today, Ari had a buffet, and Eli got Cream of Wheat. I left for school at about 7:40. I had 2 songs in my head. First was 'I wanna come over!...Ya told me ya loved me!' and the other one was 'I. wanna rock and roll.aaand I..and party everyday' since I heard them both on the radio before I left. First hour we took some notes about reefs, continental ridges, abyssal plains/hills, and stuff like that. Second period (Earth Science again) we watched a film about coral reefs and mostly about just all the kinds of sea life. Third hour we went over the homework, I only missed about 3 out of 57. Then we took a 'continental math league' paper. We had to do it without a calculator... all upstairs & with paper. I was the last one finished, and I didn't get any of the highest scores (there were only 5 or 6 problems). Fourth hour we just filled in the mental health outline we made yesterday. I also did the math homework during that time. At lunch time we watched some guys throwing snow balls outside. Fifth hour Mr. Dowling went over how to do notecards, looked at our 3 biographical sources, and then checked our note cards. Sixth hour we finished the council of the gods and Mr. Fliegelman told us what was on the quiz monday. Seventh hour we played Semper Fidelis, Bach:Air, and went throught the 1st and 2nd movements of the Folk Song Suite so we wouldn't forget it. After school I got to go straight home, took both of Asimov autobiographies, and no other books for homework. On the way home again I had those songs in my head and was feeling great. Really. When I got home both Eli and Ari were asleep. I got on the internet and tried Virtual Classroom. It worked and I wrote some letters, then when I opened Netscape it broke, so I had to restart. Instead of getting back on, I did my Alexander the Great creative project (a journal entry). That went pretty quick. Then I got on the internet and looked up mental disorders and found a whole site that was just for that and filled in a bunch of stuff for the Health outline paper. I also used the Online Encyclopedia Brittanica. I wass listening to the Badfinger CD the whole time.I checked the E-Mail and T-REX said that he would play at 7:30 CentralEuropeanTime, I hope I can catch him at the right time. Then I tried VC again, but it wouldn't connect. I tried some others and they worked, so I don't know what the problem was...maybe it was busy, though I don't know if that could be, since I was getting on through the internet. Eli played the Need for Speed. Lenny came home from parent teacher conferences. We played Clue (still listening to Badfinger). Lenny knew what everybodys cards were, but my next turn I guessed and got it right. I had hit the right room and that was lucky, cuz I had no rooms in the first place. Then I read my scriptures, Lenny & Eli went down to get mail (only Ari got letters), and then we listened to the church tape. It is still playing. 9:35pm. I'm gonna go to bed as soon as I can. Friday, March 15, 1996 This morning, the mac woke me up. It started playing the Badfinger CD. It faded into the first song as the same time I was dreaming of some kind of movie title spinning up and fading in. It was pretty cool. Later, Lenny said that that the mind does like thousands of dreams (err, sequences.. whatever) per second, so it did that as soon as it heard the music. Anyways, Lenny left for work at about 4:00 or something, and I finally got up at about 6:15 (the mac started at 6:00). After the third song, Eli switched to the Boston Pops Orchestra CD. Right now, while I am writing this, I am listening to the Electric Light Orchestra CD (6:40pm). After Eli got ready, I got ready and while we waited for Ari, I played Civilization. I was the Greeks, it didn't last very long before I died. Eli and I went down for breakfast and ordered, Ari came down later. Noone got buffets. Back in the room, I played Civilization for about an hour or two (Chinese). My biggest enemy was the Russians, the Aztecs were the other big guy, and he had the whole Americas to himself. After that, Eli and I went down to the library to look for I, Robot by Isaac Asimov. I don't know about those underlines, quotes, and italics stuff. I couldn't find it, and the librarian said that their copy was probably lost, but there was one down at the Burbank branch. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped at a little book store. There were a few Asimovs, but no I, Robot. So we went back to the hotel and I tried to do a little but on my 'Light' research paper, but only got 1 or 2 sentences and the rough draft is due Monday. I played the Descent match with T-REX. We played S2, he won, 15-8 or something like that. When it was over we kinda messed around a little flying around.. until he killed himself then we said cya. Then when Lenny got home, we went driving in the Jag. He had got the load levelers disabled so that it was only the shocks (a much smoother ride than before). We went to Borders Books and Music. They had I, Robot, and we bought it (about $5.99 w/o tax). Then we went to MacDonalds or something. We got a kids meal, oj, and chicken mcnougats. We asked for BBQ sauce and honey, but they gave us Sweet and Sour sauce (or something like that) and honey. I dont know why. Then we drove up to Freeport. I read my new book on the way. I got it because Mr. Dowling had told Lenny that I had not gotten a good book (he should have made me get another from the beginning). So I turned in Norby (I didn't finish it) and got I, Robot. At Freeport, there are just a lots of retail factory outlets and stuff. We went to L.L. Bean (L.L. = Leon Leonwood) and looked around a little. Cool stuff. We saw shoes, guns, tents, sleeping bags ($500 -20°), bike stuff, and all sorts of other stuff like pillows and comforters. Then on our way back home, I read my book again. When we got to the hotel I wrote a summary of what I had read. Then I wrote this far in my journal, while Lenny is talking to Richard Hinkley (Oldest Son Of The Prophet Of God). I just had to capitalize all those. We are late for the Espacially For Youth John Bytheway thing by about 10 minutes. I didn't read my scriptures, so I gotta catch up tomorrow. Saturday, March 16, 1996 Well, I forgot to do this yesterday, so I am doing it today (Sunday). I'll try to remember at least some. I played Civilization for a while until Lenny and Ari got up. Then we all went down for breakfast. I got a traditional, finished it all and some of Lennys pancakes. Actually, we didn't have enough jam, so I didn't finish the last few pieces of toast. Eli got steak and eggs. The whole breakfast cost about $29. After that, we went back up to our room and got last minute preparations for the Aucocisco thing. We drove to where the Casco Bay cruise was going to be and bought tickets. Ari and I raced Lenny and Eli down the stairs (they were on the elevator). We got there even before they started down. We were one of the first people to board the boat. It wasn't really big, but it was the biggest I've been on besides the Queen Mary in California. I saw Jenny from church there, she was with a friend of her's I suppose. We sat up at the bow of the deck (since we were almost the first ones on). On the first leg of our hour and a half trip, we saw some light houses and some cannon shelters from WWII. They talked some about pollution in the bay and stuff like that. Later we saw some Eiders. Those are birds that can swim underwater. We also saw some others that I don't know their names, and at the end we saw some seals. I got a ticket and a pamphlet to prove that I went on the cruise, since Mrs. Braceras said that we had to go to at least one of the Aucosisco things. When we got home we found out that the Bytheway thing today was somewhere a long ways away, so we didn't go. I just read my book and summarized it for a while. Lenny figured out how to get the HAMs to turn on when they recieved a certain sequence of DTMF numbers and how to send that code. Then he went to work. On his way to work we tried the HAM radio, but it didn't last very long. I also did some stuff for World History (or maybe I did that Friday). I also did a little bit for my 'Light' research paper that I hope is enough for a rough draft since that is due on Monday. Then I think Lenny came home and played Descent. I played Descent and passed level 15 and 16 i think. We got on the internet and tried to send mail that Ari wrote, but the modem kept getting off. Lenny popped popcorn and then we watched 'Money Pit' I think it was. Then Lenny left back for work. I read about 20 minutes of scriptures to start catching up to what I missed Friday. Then us three kids watched Rocketeer and Lenny came back about half way through. He went to bed. Then when it was finished we all went to bed. Sunday, March 17, 1996 This morning I didn't get up until about 8:35 since I wanted to get some rest and didn't need to get up any earlier anyways. Eli was allready ready except not in his sunday clothes. I got a shower and got dressed. Then Ari got ready, then Eli got dressed, then Lenny. I ate a glass of cereal and some applesauce. We left for church about 9:40 or so. In sacrament meeting I heard someone sitting behind us say that her brother was born April 16th...same day as me although probably a lot of years before. The Potters said the prayers. Sunday school we talked about uhm, one thing was a bunch of scriptures about what, how, when, and where we should pray. We listened to a song, gosh my memory is failing me, on a tape. Aaron borrowed the laser. I said the closing prayer. Priesthood meeting we got signed up for a couple service activities. In teachers quorum it was just Aaron, Bro. Potter, and me. We talked about the Resurrection & Judgement. Potter told us about some experiences he had had with the priesthood. Aaron said the closing prayer since Potter and I had allready said prayers. When we got home, we ate some frosted flakes and left over popcorn. I also had a one-sided jam sandwich. We are now playing Scrabble while I am typing this. It is 2:20pm. Lenny was first place with Eli 1 point behind, then Ari and I was last place. My last set of letters was N,A,A,I,I,O,U. Lenny went up to Phil's room to get some papers for work. At about 3:45 Lenny, Eli and I left to go to the church. Ari didn't. Eli got his interview with the bishop for being a Teacher. I got an interview for getting my Patriachal Blessing. Then we talked with Sister Hecking for a while while we waited for the bishop to make a copy of a map to where I am going to get my blessing. He was gone for about 20 minutes. Then at about 5:30 we went into the fireside meeting. It was about commitment. The bishop ran the show. One of the bishopric talked about his 2 sons. The bishop had the young women recite their mission statement thing. He then had us boys read little slips of paper he gave out at the beginning which were the scout stuff i.e. A Scout is Courteous. That is the one I got. Lenny, Eli, and I all memorized the slips we got and said them from memory. Eli said he heard a couple people say 'where are their papers?' I'm sure they were impressed whether we had memorized them that quick or known them anyways it didn't matter. Afterwards we got me a ride to seminary tmorrow. I gotta wake up at about 5:00 and be in the lobby by 10 till 6 and eat breakfast about 7:15 when I get back. When we got home, we listened to the Children's Songbook CDs a little and played Scrabble. Except we played Scrabble a different way. We had to make up pronouncable words and a definition. We came up with words like 'yeugopee' 'zarnuth' 'jyyt' and stuff like that. Then I wrote in my journal (right now). It is about 8:30. I am going to count listening to these CDs as a make-up of not reading scriptures on Friday, I stilll gotta read 15mins for today. Third time I have added to this today. Eli and Ari just went down to get some food. They brought it up here (2 clam chowders, a potatoe, and an icecream. Lenny is up at Phil's. We are listening to the 3rd Children's Songbook CD. I should go to bed soon, it is 9:45. Monday, March 18, 1996 Days go by way too fast. Less than a month until I turn 16! This morning I woke up at about 4:53. I was ready at about 5:12. Then Eli got ready, Lenny got on the internet, and we said a prayer. Eli and I went down stairs at about 5:48 to wait for our ride to seminary with the Treadwells (i think). Anyways, the people I eat lunch with some days. Aaron wasn't at seminary today, so it was just me and Eli and I think only a few girls were not there. We talked about Jeraboam & Rehaboam (sp?) after watching a film strip. Afterwards we got some worksheets that we are supposed to do every day and got a ride back to the hotel. Ari had ordered breakfast for us, so we just went to the restaurant right away and ate. I went back up to the room to get my stuff and instead of taking the elevator down, I took the fire escape stairs. First hour, we talked about some ocean stuff and canyons jsut off the continental shelf and reviewed a little for the test tomorrow. The rough draft for our research papers were due today, but Mrs. Braceras moved it to tomorrow since she didn't remind us on Thrusday (of course I allready had done what I was going to do (not much)). During Study Hall, I just read and summarized my book I, Robot. In Algebra, we got the continental math league papers back (I had gotten 2 out of 6). 5/4+5=6 1/4. 5/4€5=6 1/4. Thats one that I missed (What # when multiplied and added to 5 gets the same answer?). I started trying algebra on it, but I guess didn't try hard enough. It wasn't for a grade. Mrs. Gordius went over all the problems and then they were all easy. We then went over the homework paper we had. I only missed 3 out of about 33 and they were mostly just careless or something like that. Any number raised to the 0 power is 1, except 0 which is then undefined. We went over dividing powers and got homework of about 35 problems out of the book. I used my laser enough to get the guys in the 'peanut gallery,' as the teacher calls, them to notice. It was the skinny one that got dropped and was big. I left it in the middle of my binder and forgot about it. When I got to my next class, I noticed it was gone, and hurried back to Algebra to see if it was there. It wasn't. I had looked all over in my back pack and in my pockets. Then I just happened to glance in the little pocket on the front of my back pack and there it was. It had slipped out of my binder when I was putting it away, and I didn't notice. Anyways, thats good that I didn't loose it. We had a test about the mental illness stuff in Health class. I missed about 7 out of 26, that was a 7.3 which is a C. I'm not doing too good in that class on the tests. I type up all the vocabulary homework and hope to do good on this mental heaalth outilne, but I never got above a B on a test. At lunch I ate with Missy (Jan was sick today). I read some more of my book and summarized it. Fifth period, Mr. Dowling said that I could have until Friday to summarize the book, I said ok. I read and summarized the whole period. Sixth period, we had a test also. I didn't finish, so I came in after band. I had a achance to look at notes and stuff between the test and when I finished it, thats kinda nifty that Mr. Fliegelman would allow that, but thats good since I was able to finish. I used knowledge I had gotten from the World History class with Zimmerman for some parts of the test. In Band, we got sheets for parents to sign for the trip to Philidelphia. We practices Semper Fidelis. At home, first I did my math (listening to Melissa Etheridge and Melissa Manchester). Then I studied for the test in Earth Science. Then Eli grabbed the computer and scanned our family picture. He had finished putting the Star of David from our family crest on the Pegasus from the Steve Miller Band. Then I got on the internet and tried VC. It didn't get on, even though I left it for a long time trying. I figured it might work since people in Arizona were still in school, cuz maybe that was the problem was too many people were allready on, but I guess not. I challenged another guy for Wednesday, so maybe I will move from 69 to 35. It is 9:30 & I am tired, but not done yet. Then Lenny got home. Eli played Descent a little bit. Then Lenny, Eli, & Ari went to shopping and to get icecream. There are lots of people staying on this floor that are going to the AC/DC concert down the street. I stayed in the hotel and started summarizing my book again. I hadn't been doing it very long, when Mom called. I talked to her about school, church, my journal, radios, books, lots of stuff, then everyone came home and Eli, then Ari, then Lenny talked to her. I summarized some more of my book (I have lots to go). I still gotta read scriptures for today, I guess I'll read what the lesson in seminary is about, since I don't gotta read on my old seminary schedule any more. Well, thats that, I gotta wake up in 7 and a half hours or less. Better start on getting some sleep. Ok, I'm back again since I had to say that we listened to a tape of Eli and I and Mom, and everybody like 10 years ago. Pretty cool. Ok, now I go. Tuesday, March 19, 1996 I just can't say enough how fast the time goes by. So little to do, too much time. Wait. Reverse that. Ok, it is 9:23. This morning I got up a little later (closer to 5:00). I got ready first, then Eli. I was pretty tired. We said a prayer, and went down to the lobby. In seminary we played the magnet game. There was drawn a target on the white board 10,20,30,40,50. We threw magnets (didn't stick all the time) and then found a scripture from the historical setting. Our team won. Aaron was there today also. We studied 1 Kings 17, about Elijah. We had cookies afterwards (I only had one since we still hadn't eaten breakfast). Ari had just ordered the same thing we got yesterday since Eli and I forgot to tell her what we wanted. When I got to school and to my locker, my key wasn't in my little pocket. I though uh-oh, and figured that I would just carry around my ES and Algebra books all day and hope we didn't need our health books (my coat too). Then I would go to the hotel during lunch... oh, but there is no key there, so I don't know what I was thinking. So I went up to class and pulled out everything in my big pocket. Sure enough, there it was, so I went down and put my coat and math book in my locker. Earth Science went 2 periods today, firsst we took a quiz, I was the next to last to finish (gee, thats a change). Then we did a paper on currents (I finished, dunno how many other people did). Third period we went over the homework and Mrs. Gordious handed out another worksheet. Fourth period we watched a 20/20 video about Anorexia. During lunch I summarized my book a little bit. For English, we went up to the library to look for some critisism sources for our author/book. I got 3 (thats how many we needed), and also helped Pat a little (the guy that sits next to me in class). Sixth period Mr. Fliegelman said that we could have some time to review the Greek stuff and then handed our tests back to finish, since he thought we didn't have enough information or something (I added a little more). I turned in the note saying I wasn't going to Philidelphia to the band teacher. In band we played Semper Fidelis and Flourish or Wind Band. Mr. Randazzo us 2nd trumpets practice one part. We each had to do a solo, I did it first... pretty good. I didn't have any books to take home for homework, but I still had lots of stuff to do. When I got home (Eli was playing Civilization), first I did my math (listening to the radio) and typed up the World History homework we had (which I had done a while ago). I got on the internet (on the IBM) and did a little bit on my mental illnesses outline, but that is not real high on my priorities, so I didn't do much. I left First Class trying to get on to VC for the whole time I was on. When Lenny got home I went out in the fire escape and summarized some more of my book (that is quite high on my priorities). After I did a little I came back in and started typing it. I didn't do much, then Lenny, Eli, and I left for scouts (Lenny didn't stay). In scouts first we did the opening ceremony and stuff. Then we did a little thing about what to do when you get lost on an outing. One of the scout leaders was doing advancement stuff at the same time. I told him all the merit badges I have (most of them) and stuff like that. Then we made space derby things. Or started anyways. That was for a half hour, then we played basketball. Bro. Buckoff (sp?) drove us to the hotel since Lenny wasn't there. At the hotel, I did the seminary lesson. Lenny chatted with Dale (Relampago) on the internet. Then I typed my journal. Ari (and the rest later) watched some shows on TV (Indiana Jones, and some others). Oh, and I got David Shelley's letter today, I gotta find time to write him back.. or call him. I guess I better go to bed now (9:45). 760 words divided by 22 minutes.... thats 34 and a half WPM. k. Wednesday, March 20, 1996 First day of spring. It rained this morning. I woke up right around 5:00, and got ready (dressed and contacts). When I got out of the bathroom, someone had called and said that seminary was cancelled because the teacher was sick. I got to stay in bed for an hour and a half more and have nifty dreams. When I finally got up (6:35) I did my hair and Ari and I went down to breakfast. We both got buffets. She finished before I did and left for school, then I did. I checked for my locker key before I left. It rained on me all the way. It was 33°, with the rain and wind, thats pretty cold (felt like 2°). When I got to school and to my locker, my coat was all wet. I still put it in my locker though. First period we got our tests back. I got 47/50 (94%) I'm happy with that. Then we did started a paper on waves and stuff like that (in water). What we didn't finish we did for homework, or at least had to look at it). Study Hall I summarized my book the whole period and only did about 20 pages (ugh). Algebra, we went over the homework and then took a test. I forgot my calculator, so I was crippled and I think maybe I made a few mistakes...maybe. Then fourth period a former anorexic came to our class and spoke for the whole period. During lunch, after I ate, I summarized my book some more (I suprised myself how far I got (not very far)). Towards the end, there were orange peels, cookies, bread, and lolipops flying all over (I exagerate only slightly). Fifth period we wrote some précises. I only did 1.5 of 4. I suppose I am just getting low benchmark scores with this summarizing stuff. Mr. Dowling was in a meeting, so we had a subsitute. Sixth period we started the Roman chapter. Mr. Fliegelman did an example presentation of some sections, then assigned sections to us to do. Class ended early, but was not dismissed. Shannon, Santos, and I (all in the band) snuck out through the other door when noone (we think) was looking. In band, we played Folk Song Suite. Towards the end of the second movement, the fire alarm rang. Mr. Randazzo didn't like that. Everyone cleared the school and 5 minutes later we went back in. We finished up the second movement and had barely started the third. The fire alarm rang again. This time, since school was out in 10 minutes, Mr. Randazzo just said 'Go home, get out of here'. I went to my locker and got my coat. The Vice-Principle (I think) was at the door saying that this time we really needed to get out of the school. I didn't think I needed any books for homework, but didn't really think about it since he was kind of hurrying people out. I did need my math book though, and couldn't do the homework since I hadn't gotten it. What happened this time, was a pipe had broken and the school was flooding (almost). When I got home, the cleaning lady was doing the room. Eli was playing Civilization, so I started my letter to David Shelley. I did that for about 2 hours, then did some Earth Science homework. Then Lenny came home. I started doing some biographical note cards. I went in the fire escape so I could work better. I was in there for about an hour and 45 minutes. I got 4 or 5 note cards done (20 are due tomorrow, I don't know whats going to happen). I am suffering from a work overload. Now if I was just given one project at a time, I would be more than happy to do it, and well also. But 3 or 4 at a time I just can't do. Here is what is happening now: 20 biographical note cards due tomorrow (4 done); Book summary due Friday (half way done and making slow progress); 'Light' rough draft due Monday (about 1 page of not-so-much information completed, without any references/footnotes, whatever they are called, to any books.); Also due monday is the Mental Illnesses outline for Health (Shouldn't be too hard if I can get time to do it); On saturday, taking up time is we are helping some people move into our ward (that should give me some time to relax a little); Also, probably due on Friday, is a presentation for World History (that shouldn't take too long to do though); And somewhere in there I have to find time to finish my letter to David, do seminary work, and write in my journal every day and play a Descent match eventually (Lenny's boss is going to rent the Penium, so I dont know whats going to happen with the Descent ladder). Well, I figure that is just about it, I hope I can relax for the night and everything goes ok in school. It is now 9:26, been at this 45 minutes. There is just NOT enough time in the day. Thursday, March 21, 1996 Gosh, it is 10:50pm, I'm tired. I'll fill in at the end of the day. Last night I had to sleep on the floor (with 2 featherbeds), not the best nights sleep I guess. I got up about 6:08 and got ready. Eli and I left a note by the mirror saying what we wanted for breakfast and left for seminary. At seminary there was only about 5 people total for a while until some others came. The teach handed out cards with questions on them and we had to answer them to everybody. At the end of class (when everyone was there) we did a little scripture chase. When we got to the hotel we ate (of course), Ari and Eli had buffets, I had a traditional. I left my coat in the restaurant when I left up to the room. I got my backpack, did my hair a little then went back down. It was hanging up on a hanger right by the door, so I just got it and left for school. First period we finished up the wave activity, then started a lab. I learned that the first fire alarm yesterday was a some crazy guy (not a kid) that called in a bomb scare (which the school has to take seriously). The second alarm was a old wasted sprinkler that popped off a pipe and since there was oil in the pipe (it was a water pipe, just some oil on the sides), oil was coming out also, they are not sure if the school is falling apart (though they underwent a recent renovation) or someone is makeing it fall apart. The lab was about density currents, where cold salt water moves when put into warm tap water and the temperature changes. We almost got finished. Second period I just summarized my book (if i'm not mistaken this late at night). Third period (math) we went over the homework and got our tests back. I got 100 on the test, and that was without my nifty calculator (I used a cheap one from Mrs. Gordius' desk). Richard I think his name was...no, it wasn't richard., asked to borrow the big laser for a science presentation he had to do, I let him, he said he'd give it back at the end of school. Fourth period we had some speakers talk about some mental illnesses like schizophrenia and depression stuff. They had a movie for us to watch. Lunch only Jen was there and not Missy, that was a change. I summarized some more of my book (this was going slowly). It is now 11:00pm. Fifth period I asked Mr. Dowling if my summary was too long, and of course he said it was and just write what the book it about if you were gonna tell me in 3 minutes or less. Then we went over the basic outline of our paper and stuff we needed to get for critical analysis. I read my book (no summary, just read). Sixth period we had a couple presentations on Rome (mine is probly gonna be on Monday). Again Shannon, Santos, and I snuck out early (and another person or 2). In band today we had a string bass play along with us in some songs. We played BACH:Air, Spemper Fidelis, and Flourish for Wind Band. After wards I went to World History class to look at the presentation chart. Then I waited for Richard (if thats his name) to come by and return my laser (he said he got an A on his presentation). When I got home I finished my letter to David and got it sent and then did my math homework (my favorite). Then I started reading my book for about gee, must've been about 6 hours (ugh). Everybody was talking so it went kinda slow at first, then they left for a while and it sped up. Then I started writing up my book summary form. I did a little, then did 3 whole note cards. 20 are due tomorrow (not today). Dunno what I'm gonna do. So thats what I did today and it is 11:10 and so what if my homework isn't done, it is too much, and I am tired. Friday, March 22, 1996 This morning I woke up late since I went to bed late. Got up at about 5:20 about. Eli and I were both ready for seminary in time though, and got down to the lobby just as soon as they got here (or were about to leave). Mr. Treadwell tought class today. We didn't have a scripture chase or any thing, we just went straight thrgough the lesson. Mr. Treadwell also took us back to the hotel (he picked us up too). I forgot to tell Ari what I wanted, so she just got me the same traditional as I did before. I didn't leave for school until about 17 'till. I had to get all my stuff together. First period, we got some stuff back (all As for me). Then we were supposed to work on our research paper. I knew I had forgot something when I left the hotel (my Light books). So I just worked on note cards for English instead. Mrs. Braceras also talked about some news like the Mad Cow Disease or something and the comet. Second period I worked more on my note cards. Third period, I turned in the extra credit problem I did last night, when it was graded at the end of the period, it was 5 extra points. Then Mrs. Gordius went over a bunch of stuff for scientific calculators [especially TI-30s] and of course I allready knew all of the calculator stuff. Then she gave us homework out of the book. In Health, we watched 2 filmstrips on like schizophrenia and stuff. At the end of the period my 2 lasers got borrowed out, now everyone know I have at least 2. At lunch, I did some more note cards. Fifth period, Mr. Dowling checked the note cards. I had 18, and that was close enough to 20. Then we went over how to do note cards for critical analysis sources. Sixth period we got some more presentations on Rome. Mine probably wont be until Tuesday. Seventh period, there were not very many people. A few people had gone to give blood (Juniors & Seniors). The people that were there split up and practised on their own. Mr. Randazzo worked with me and another 2nd/3rd trumpet. We played the Folk Song Suite most of it... and Semper Fidelis parts of it. We got out about 7 minutes early. I checked with Mr. Fliegelman on when my presentation would probably be. I took my Algebra book, Earth Science book, and one of the Asimov autobiographies. My backpack was full. When I got home, I did my math right away [while listening to the radio]. Then also I got the information for my Roman presentation. After that, I started on my fiction summary form [listening to CDs]. Lenny came home. I got some help from him on some things. When I was finished, it was 4 pages long (2 of those were the summary of each chapter). We watched an 8mm tape from 1991, around October 29 or something. It had us at the visitors center, for like a family reunion, then at Luis' birthday party, then a whole bunch of video of Kitten which was funny, and of course us. Oh, and Lenny got the Pentium undone for Doug, and hooked up a IICI from Lenny's work since his boss took the Pentium. He also got the keyboard (Mirage) hooked up. 10:30pm, I'm off to bed. Saturday, March 23, 1996 This morning I got out of bed at about 7:50. I got ready andd we all went down to eat at about 8:45. It was very crowded and we were eating until about 9:18. We saw someone that looked a lot like Sam Morey. After we finished eating, we went back up to the room. I hooked up the gig HD to the CI and copied some stuff. When I was finished, the available room went from about 112MB to 22 and most of that was games. I also hooked up the MacRecorder to it and it worked. Then we played on the keyboard, trying to play cops & robbers and some hymns. I worked on my research paper a little. We went to Tom Buckoff's house. We ate lunch there and played with my 'bouncy' Parker pen and the laser with their littlest girl. From there (we left Ari there) we went to pick up some of the Elders and went to the _____'s house that just moved into the ward. We helped them move stuff into the house from the Ryder van. We did that for not quite an hour and also moved a large TV and a baby grand (without a single scratch) into the house. After that we took the Elders back home and then went back to the Buckoff's. I got to drive the Jag home! I really di pretty good. That is the first time I've ever driven the Jag. Eli didn't want to be in the car when I was driving... oh well, he was. I took it all the way, even into the parking lot (but not into the parking place). Then I worked more on my research paper (I got about 5 paragraphs done). Ari called a friend and talked girl stuff for about an hour or more. I got on the internet and checked the mail. I was gonna do some stuff on it, but Lenny came home and took over the computer. He wrote Bonnie (back on the internet) and Emily. Then I started my journal, but was interrupted. We went to the mall to look for me a suit for the all-city concert on Tuesday. After we looked in Jordan Marsh and JCPenney, we bought a suit, white shirt, and suspenders at Sears. Then we went to Structure (Italian) and bought Lenny, Eli, and me all three the same kind/color of suit, tie, and i think socks. The guy that helped us was cool, part Italian (maybe 100%, i dunno), Lenny gave him a business card with his home page address on it, he was interested in maybe doing what Lenny was doing (money). Then we came back home and I finished my journal... litening to Melissa Manchester. We didn't really try to see the comet... too bad. Maybe we will still. It is now 10:20, Lenny just went down to get some dinner. Scripture reading is slacking... I'll do the seminary lessons tomorrow. Wonderful day. Sunday, March 24, 1996 This morning, Eli got up first and got ready for church. I got up at about 8:45 and got a shower and got dressed. Lenny, Eli, and I all wore the 3 matching suits we bought yesterday. We got to church right on Mormon standard time. The chruch got our records, so we got to stand up. They read a bunch of other people's names, but none of them were there, so we were standing for a while. When I went to Sunday School, and Missy came in she said "Ali!. Nice suit. I like the tie too" or something to that effect. The lesson was about things we try or want to get and why we want them and what we could do with them to help other people. The opening song was "Because I have been Given much, I too must give". Aaron is a percussionist, so he wasn't there since he had to go early somewhere to set up for a concert so it was just Nick and I. Jen (who plays the trumpet (or maybe french horn, i dunno)) also left, but later than Aaron did. Then at priesthood, Lenny wasn't there for quite a while but he came at the end. Eli went to Teacher's quorum with me since he was going to be ordained today anyways. Bro. Potter brought a magic trick finally. pretty cool. It was a white rectangle thing with some felt dots on each side that he covered up to show there was 1 on one side, then 4 on the other then 3 on the first and 6 on the second and then he really showed them and also then showed 8 on the one side. Well, I just noticed that I passed 90000 characters in this here journal. Anyways, we got out of Teacher's quorum about 5 minutes early and Lenny ordained Eli to a Teacher. He cried after he did. Then Lenny talked to the bishop for about half an hour (he had told the bishop 10 minutes) while us 3 children waited. Then we drove home. When we got to the hotel, we got some new keys since our old ones were not working any more. I tried on the black suit that I had got then got dressed. We read the story of Esther from the picture bible. Lenny called Sister Hecking to get a ride for Ari to Advancement day or whatever its called. Then Lenny, Eli, and Ari took a nap while I finished the seminary work. Then I think Lenny called Mom or something. I played Civilization for an hour or so. Then I got on the Internet to chat with James and check the mail. James wasn't there so then I got on Virtual Classroom. It worked and I wrote David. I chatted with Kristen and Melody and Justin and some other people and asked those that had 2 lines to call David. A few did, but the phone was busy. So I wrote David and told him to get on tomorrow night. I hope he does. Then I wrote Mom a letter. Then we all played Clue, and actually noone won since the cards just spilled out. All of us except Ari had it I think.....she was guessing. We ate popcorn and some Apple Jack like cereal. Then I wrote in my journal. It is 10:38pm. My journal so far is 17,920 words. g'nite. Monday, March 25, 1996 This morning I woke up late again. I think I had forgotten to set my alarm back after Sunday. About 5:23 I woke up and got ready. Told Ari I wanted the same traditional as always for breakfast. Both of them got buffets. I took the binder Lenny bought for seminary today. Eli mailed the letters to mom before we left. Brother Treadwell taught again today. We just read the scriptures and answered the questions. We actually even did a little scripture chase. Ashley and Erica finished up their letters to the Department of Motor Vehicles for their permits. Erica gave me a Personal Advancement workbook for Ari. Then the Treadwells took us to the hotel. This time he pulled up just to the sidewalk rather than going in the turn-around. We ate breakfast then went up to the room. I got all my stuff ready and left finally at about a quarter till [7]. I had to take my Math and World history books. First period I handed in what I had done of my 'Light' rough draft. Mrs. Braceras talked about the comet and that the second current event is due Wednesday... gotta do it tomorrow. Then we talked about currents and monsoons and stuff like that. In study hall I just started reading the last chapter of I, Robot because I read it so fast last time that I didn't get it all. Read about 5 pages I guess. In Algebra we went over the homework (scientific notation stuff) and then took a little quiz. Aced it. I think. (about 10 questions). Fourth hour we just went over the uh mental illness outline to fill in any blanks we had. It is due Wednesday, but we are going to use it tomorrow to study for the big test. Justin (the short kid hehe) borrowed the laser. Then Lunch. I read some more of I, Robot (about 4 pages). Then went to English. I handed in my Fiction Summary paper on I, Robot. In English we did a Thesis statement and Preliminary Outline for our report. Then Mr. Dowling checked 1 critical analysis notecard each person. I did one right there and it was good. 5 are due tomorrow. Sixth period we did about 4 presentations. Thats it. Then us band people snuck out again (getting to be a habit). In band we went over the songs for the all-city concert Tuesday night since Juniors (and seniors?) wont be in band tomorrow because all the classes are flip-flopped. 1st hour we go to our 7th period class; 2nd=6th; 3rd=5th; and so on. That is because there is MEA testing and they didn't want the Juniors to miss the same classes every day. After band I went to Mr. Fliegelman's room to write up my presentation with markers since I had all the information. Information is a wonderful thing. After that I went up to the library and checked out a Writers of the 21st Century Series book on Isaac Asimov to do critical analysis note cards on. I wrote out a card and everything since it was my first time getting a book. Then I went to my locker, got my math and history books and walked home. When I got home, first I read the Math assignment then I did the History homework. Then since Eli got off the computer and it was still on the Internet and I didn't want it to fall off and he asked me if I wanted to use it and he wasn't going to use it; I went over to the computer and checked the mail. Then I downloaded a few games (Invasion 20XX, TechnoManiac, and LandShark; all pretty cheap). I was listening to Sherryl Crow, and 38 Special doing my World History questions. I typed up that paper and then I typed up my Mental Illnesses Outline for Health while I was listening to John Lennon's 'The John Lennon Collection' CD (Lenny told me to put that in since I guess Lennon was schizophrenic of something). Then I let Lenny look through the mail. Then I got on VC at about 7:00 to chat with David S. Shelley. I chatted with some other people too. The weren't quite sure if I was really Ali or just Arden (shes been using my account). I downloaded the 774K FCC client 3.1 in about <5 minutes (pretty fast). And chatted with David for about an hour and a half. Got him updated and stuff (he hasn't gotten my letter yet). I told him about the laser thing in study hall on March 4th (first entry in my journal). Lenny was bugging me to get off since it was about 8:40. I still had homework to do (the 5 cards & the Mental Illnesses outline. I unstuffed the 3.1 client so I wouldn't have to do it later. Lenny read the missionary rules for family home evening. I printed out my journal (pages 1-20)(would have been 1-31 with the pages gone in SuperTrash). It is 10:00 now, so I figure I'm done for the day. (96068 characters). Tuesday, March 26, 1996 This morning again I woke up late. We got ready and everything in time. I didn't take the binder today. Sister Morgan taught seminary today. She was introduced to us as 'queer'. Though not totally. We still need the rest of the workbook pages. Sister Treadwell drove us today again. Ari and I had buffets while Eli had a traditional. I got all ready for school, and left without my coat since it was about 47° and I didn't need a coat. It was nice out. Today was a flip-flop day so first period I went to Band. We didn't play though. I just did 5 note cards for English and read the last chapter of I, Robot. Then I went to World History. There were 2 presentations before mine, 2 of them were written really small so people far away couldn't read them. Then I did mine. I had written pretty big and just had the big points that needed to be written down. Except one which was important, but not that important and since I didn't have enough room I didn't write it; but Mr. Fliegelman brought it up. Shannon said it was the best presentation yet and Fliegelman also complimented me. Thats nice, cuz it was. Then I went to English. Mr. Dowling checked our note cards and handed back our book summary papers. I got 98/100. Fourth hour is the only class that isn't changed. We just reviewed for the test tomorrow. At lunch only Jen was there, I don't know where Missy was. I did 1 note card. After lunch I went to Algebra. We got back our quizes from yesterday. Noone missed less than 2 (i missed 2, but now I know why). She didn't grade the tests since she was not happy with them on an individual/class basis. I'm trying to remember if we took another test... i dont know. Then we went over Polynomials and did a bunch of problems with those. She assigned us a bunch of those problems for homework. After that was Earth Science. We did a lab with globes and currents an with waves and stuff. Then after that was done we took a break between periods. I went clear downstairs from the 3rd floor to 2 to 1 to G and got the trumpet then to 1 to 2 to 3 and back to class in less than 3 minutes (faster than anyone else would have i suppose.) Then the last period of ES we just cooked seafood. Shrimp, muscles, squid (kalamary?), salmon (i think), and seaweed. I didn't eat any, although I probably would if there was some point to it. There was plenty left over at the end of the period. Then I just went straight from there to the hotel since I didn't have to go to my locker to get books or my coat. I alwways walk fast, and since I was carrying 2 books in my backpack and the trumpet, my shoulder was kind of tired. I was hot all the way home... or at least the last part. Then I did my math homework. Then I did my current event which is due tomorrow. It was on Laser Air Defences (pretty nifty). Typed it all up and everything. Then I got on the internet, checked the mail, and finished up my mental illnesses outline. Then I got off and got dressed in my black suit for the concert. I took my trumpet case rather than the school's. We left at about 5:40 to take Ari where she thought she was supposed to go. Young womens or something. But she didn't for some reason once we got there. Then we drove to the Expo and went inside. I got all set up and ready. We had to wait for about a half an hour before the thing started. Then the orchestra played for a half an hour, then the Middle school band played for about 20-25 minutes. Then we got to play for 15-20 minutes at the very end. Played Headless Horseman and Folk Song Suite. I didn't do it all perfect, but it was good and fun. Then we went back to the hotel. I got in my sweats and got on the internet. I got right onto VC to chat with David at 8:23 (our time) about. We talked for about 35 minutes then he had to go to mutual. Then>€
